Emulate
Emulate the artist A horizon line connects two worlds. The ethereal and carnal, an axis or navel of the universe, or a marriage of masculine and feminine features. The connecting point of the unconscious and the physical realm are our skylines and horizons, between human existence and ethereal meaning. Microcosm and macrocosm.Yoichi Kawamura’s “Release” series was the driving force behind these images and I strived for the other worldly feel of his works. I use clear skies paired with cloudy ones to create a Ganzfeld effect. The sky is a much broader realm than what humanity occupies, it’s easy for artist to focus on ourselves. But to belittle our existence into a smaller, more simplistic fashion, our efforts, though grand to us, are irrelevant to the Earth. Our ethnocentric and egocentric lifestyles affect the world in a way that is almost irreversible. Our constant consumption of the Earth’s resources will affect humanity for generations to come. Our planet should be respected and cared for. Her celestial essence is all around us, yet we don’t see with our eyes, but camera lenses and screens. As the great philosopher Serj Tankian once said, “We rape the Earth and don’t know why it strikes.”
